Virgil J. Nielsen

Virgil Nielsen, a physician
in Riverside, California, is a multi-talented musician who plays both organ and
trombone. Nielsen started piano at age six and organ at fifteen. He studied
organ under David Garth Worth and Raymond Ruckle,
completing an undergraduate degree in organ performance 1977 at Atlantic Union
College. He completed a Doctor of Medicine degree at Loma Linda University in
1980 and has been practicing medicine in Riverside, California, since 1987. He
has served as president of the medical staff at Kaiser Foundation Hospital in
Riverside, and is a past president of the LLU School of Medicine Alumni
Association.
Nielsen has served as
organist and choirmaster at the Roslindale Congregational Church and was
organist for the Northborough Unitarian Church while residing in Massachusetts,
and later served as organist for the Highland Congregational Church in
California. He serves as associate organist for the Loma Linda University
Church and plays trombone in brass ensembles.
