Violet Mae Lee Rugg

Violet Rugg
taught music at two academies and two colleges in the Seventh-day Adventist
school system. She was born in Swea City, Iowa.
Rugg started her career teaching voice and
directing the choir at Broadview Academy in Illinois. She then taught voice at
Southwestern Junior College, now Southwestern Adventist University, for three
years, in the 1940s.
Most of Rugg's
teaching career was spent on the West Coast, in California, where she taught
piano at Golden Gate Academy and voice at Pacific Union College. She taught at
PUC from 1954 until her retirement in 1969. She was living in Napa, California,
when she died at age 84.
