Vernon Lincoln Stewart
1909
- 1982
Vernon Stewart was invited to
join the Voice of Prophecy King's Heralds quartet in 1939 as one of the
replacements for two of the original members, brothers Louis and Waldo Crane.
He was recommended by the Cranes, who had known and sung with him when they were
schoolmates at Southwestern Junior College, now Southwestern Adventist
University. Although he enjoyed the experience of singing second tenor, he left
after one year.
He was born in College Place,
Washington, and grew up in a family in which several brothers and relatives
were active in music. After he left the VOP, he pursued a career in
architecture and construction. He eventually left construction and enjoyed a
career in designing public buildings in Southern California.
