Robert L. Hicks
Robert Hicks, currently residing in Tennessee, served as music director at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Florham Park, New Jersey from 2005 to 2007. A resident of New Jersey since 2002, while living there he also taught music at Garden State Academy and Tranquility Adventist School, served as an adjunct teacher at Centenary College, and taught violin and piano privately.
Prior to teaching in New Jersey, Hicks taught at Union Springs Academy in New York during the 1997-1998 school year and at Enterprise Academy in Kansas in 1999-2000. While at EA, he served as concertmaster in the Salina Symphony.
Hicks graduated from Southern Adventist University in 1996 with a B.A. in music. Previously, he had attended Walla Walla College, where he played in the Walla Walla Symphony. He then taught music at Fountain view Academy in Lillooet, British Columbia, Canada, for one year before continuing his education at SAU. While at the university, he served for two years as concertmaster of its symphony orchestra and also served as a music director and announcer at the campus radio station.
Hicks completed an M.Mus. with an emphasis in choral conducting at Andrews University in 2003. While in residence at AU, he served as music director at the First United Methodist church in South Haven, Michigan, for two years, and directed the Pioneer Men's Chorus, a group from within the University Chorus.
