Patricia Jean Swearingen Hight

1941 -

Pat Hight, a pianist and organist, has served as a church musician for several years. She was born in Houghton, South Dakota, and raised on a farm in Havana, North Dakota, one of seven children of Harry and Edith Anna Engel Swearingen.

When she was five, she began playing by ear, copying what an older sister, who was taking piano lessons by correspondence, had just finished playing. She took piano lessons during her grade school years and then continued for two years on piano and two more on organ while attending Sheyenne River Academy, later relocated and renamed Dakota Adventist Academy, in North Dakota.

Hight has provided service music for churches and camp meetings for most of her life. For eighteen years she collaborated with Joan Brown Schwarz in providing service music at the Walla Walla City Seventh-day Adventist Church in the state of Washington, and in 2003-2004 they recorded a CD of organ and piano duets.
