Patricia Karp, now retired, taught kindergarten and music at Desert Adventist Academy in Palm Desert, California. She received the Silver Apple Award in the Inland Empire for her kindergarten teaching in 2004.

A 1967 B.Mus. and 1974 M.A. Andrews University graduate, Karp previously taught in Rockford, Illinois; St. Louis, Missouri; Glendale, Arizona; and at Hinsdale Jr. Academy in Illinois. She is an active musician, singing in the California Desert Chorale and playing piano in the Palm Springs Adventist church, where she also serves as head deaconess. As part of her activity in the Coachella Valley Orchestra, Karp also gave string lessons to children.

Patricia and her husband, Richard Donald, who live in Cathedral City, California, have two sons, Richard Michael and Nicholas Andrew.
