Livia Pica Liga
Liva P. Liga, a violinist, was born and raised in Romania. She was raised in a musical family and began study on violin at age of four, taking lessons from her father.
She completed a B.A. in musical pedagogy at the Gheorghe Dima Conservatory in Brasov, Romania, and an M.A. in violin performance at Andrews University in 2002. Her teachers included Dobre Sorin and Pepelea Dan in Romania and Carla Trynchuk at AU.
Liga was an active performer while living in Europe, playing in the Brasov Philharmonic and other orchestras and chamber groups. She was part of the Trio Celest singers group, now known as the Celest Singers, an ensemble that played internationally and recorded four albums.
While at AU, she played in and was a soloist with the university orchestra. She was a finalist in the 2001 AU Young Artists Competition.
Livia and her husband, Florin, a pastor and also an accomplished musician, lived in Centralia, Illinois, from 2004 to 2011, where he was a pastor and she taught violin in their home. They now reside in Berrien Springs, Michigan, where he is pursuing graduate study at AU.
