Hartwick Herman Hansen
1925 - 1956
Hartwick (Hart) Hansen, music teacher and singing evangelist, started his career as choir director and Bible teacher at Enterprise Academy in Kansas. Born in Superior, Wisconsin, he attended Emmanuel Missionary College, now Andrews University, and Pacific Union College, before graduating from Union College in 1951. He and his wife, Lorraine Waller Hansen, taught for two years at EA and then joined the Oregon Conference where he served as a minister and singing evangelist until 1956.
While he was traveling to an appointment in a private plane in June 1956, the flight was lost over the Cascade Mountain range. Although neither he nor others traveling in the plane were ever recovered, a memorial service was held for him in February 1957 in Portland, Oregon.
