Harold Lane Schmidt
1937 - 2013
H. Lane Schmidt, a singer and instrumentalist, directed choirs and bands in seven Adventist schools for 28 years in the Lake, Columbia, Central, Southern, and Southwestern unions. He then worked for ten years at Florida Hospital in Orlando, Florida, before retiring.
Schmidt was born in Takoma Park, Maryland, one of three children and the only son of Harold H. and Doris Schmidt. He attended Maplewood Academy in Minnesota and Southern Missionary College, now Southern Adventist University, graduating with a B.M.E in 1960. His first teaching position was at MWA; and his last was at Sandia View Academy in Texas. He completed an M.Mus.at Andrews University in 1969.
He married Darlene Peterson and they had three sons, Rick Lane, Robin Dale, and Roger Vernon. He was living in Deltona, Florida, where he served as an elder and choir director in the church, at the time of his death at age 75.
