Diana Zlateva-Nyvik
1969 -
Diana Zlateva-Nyvik,
a pianist and choral conductor, taught piano and directed the choral program at
Blue Mountain Academy in 2002. She now resides in Vancouver, British Columbia,
Canada, where she is director of the Zlateva Academy
of Music, a program she started and runs in association with the Trinity
Baptist Church.
A native of Bulgaria and the
daughter of Ljuba Dimitorva
Zlateva and Ziata Ivanov Zlatev, Diana completed a
B.Mus. in piano performance at the Acadamie of Music
and Dance in that country in 1992. After teaching for five years, she completed
a performer's certificate in voice and keyboard at La Sierra University in 1999
and did graduate work at Redlands University. She later completed a master’s
degree in piano performance at the University of British Columbia and, in 2007,
an M.Mus. in choral conducting at UBC.
Zlateva-Nyvik has taught piano, voice, organ, and
piano lessons for nearly twenty years. She studied piano with Louianne Long, Elvin Rodriqez, Hovsep Kalaidjian, and James Gile; organ with Kimo Smith and
Michael Murray; and conducting with Bruce Pullan, Morihiro Okabe, and Ivan Spasov.
