Alicia Borges
Alicia Borges, a mezzo
soprano and native of Argentina, has toured extensively in Europe, South
America and the United States. A student of the National Conservatory of music
in Buenos Aires and the Musikhocschules in Freiburg and
Karlsruhe, Germany, she has presented numerous recitals and is a frequent
soloist in oratorio and opera productions. In 1992, she sang with Jose Carreras
in a presentation of Carmen conducted
by Placido Domingo during the World’s Fair in Spain.
Since 1994 Borges has also
toured extensively in Central and South America with a group of soloists known
as "Elyma" who specialize in Latin Baroque
music. In addition to touring in the Americas they also participate in
significant European Baroque music festivals. They have recorded three CD’s.
Borges has recorded several
CD’s of religious, folk, and classical music. Two of these CD's feature
Argentinian folk and tango music that she often performs in recitals.
